Beach Day

One of the perks of living in a warm climate?  The beach is accessible nearly year-round!  Mike and I took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather this past weekend and headed down to Galveston for the day.  When Hurricane Ike hit back in 2008, it tore down one of the landmark hotels in the area, the Flagship Hotel.  It was kind of a dumpy hotel on the inside, but the major appeal was that it sat on the water.  What a view this hotel had!  Here's a before and after of the Flagship Hotel:

I'm not sure how "irreparable" the hotel was, as that hole on the right doesn't look "too big," but apparently, there was enough damage to justify tearing it down.  In its place, they built the Pleasure Pier, a fun amusement park on the water!  Here's a few photos from our day at the Pleasure Pier!

I'll be posting a "home tour" here soon for our long-distance friends and family who have yet to see our new house, so stay tuned!  And get excited!!  :)
